Venice 4．雙年展精選（上）

一直對現代藝術一竅不通，覺得既垃圾又不知所謂。到歐洲旅行，不斷參觀Modern Art Museum（Tate Modern, Bilbao Guggenheim, 巴黎龐比度 Barcelona Comptemp Art Museum...），才開始懂得現代藝術之美。當然，不少Modern Art仍是垃圾，但有更多作品及精品，可以讓你再三玩味。

S開始攻讀藝術史起，有時也會拿她的讀本看看，藝術理論與哲學差不多，英文極深極難懂，特別是美學理論，康德黑格爾也要讀，甚多德文，很多也是一知半解，讀後似懂非懂。但談到Modern Art，就有一篇文章頗有趣，是講藝術史家Danto於1984年寫的《the end of Art》。

自從Duchamp簽個名在尿兜，也可以成為藝術品後，究竟甚麼是藝術？突然間，甚麼人都可以是藝術家、甚麼垃圾都可以是藝術作品。當甚麼都是藝術時，藝術也失去定義了，連Andy Warhol的金寶湯等pop art都是作品，超級市場也是藝術館了。Danto的看法如下：

「"...the master narrative of the history of art--in the West but by the end not in the West alone--is that there is an era of imitation, followed by an era of ideology, followed by our post-historical era in which, with qualification, anything goes.

. . .In our narrative, at first only mimesis [imitation] was art, then several things were art but each tried to extinguish its competitors, and then, finally, it became apparent that there were no stylistic or philosophical constraints. There is no special way works of art have to be. And that is the present and, I should say, the final moment in the master narrative. It is the end of the story"」

當然，這種說法與福山的「歷史的終結」有同一毛病。今天雖然是這樣，但誰知道藝術未來的發展？說不定有一天，大家的審美標準又倒過來？

我仍不懂怎樣分現代藝術的好壞，不明白為何幾條線，一堆顏色，會被視為劃時代的作品。只好以自己的標準，去找我喜歡、我不喜歡；有意義及無意義的作品。

只是一堆掛在牆的J形手杖，我可以參與其中，製造了free falling的效果。



你估計這是甚麼？是黑夜的星空？是宇宙？

原來是這些東西！


電器閃燈的效果！製造了一個宇宙。



這是甚麼圖案？

原來是一輛車。
